The Department of Computer Science at Makerere University (Mak) is thrilled to announce a prestigious opportunity for B.Sc Computer Science Year Two students. In partnership with various AHUMAIN stakeholders and collaborators in Uganda, across East Africa and EU, the AHUMAIN project is designed to address local IT needs and drive East Africa's digital transformation and conversion to a digital economy. AHUMAIN stakeholders and collaborators include; Karume Institute of Science and Technology, Muni University, Neapolis University, RENU and Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerp in Belgium.
It offers cutting-edge courses in applied AI and Data Science, provides specialized equipment for deploying real-world AI applications, fosters collaboration between academia, research, and business, and facilitates international knowledge sharing. This unique opportunity is open to students interested in joining the International Innovative Student Project Team for the AHUMAIN Consortium Project.
Applications are open from 19th February 2024 to 29th February 2024. There are two positions available for this program. Eligible applicants should be registered Makerere University B.Sc Computer Science students in Year Two on normal progress with a CGPA of at least 4.0. The program involves international travel and collaboration in interdisciplinary teams with EU students. Interested applicants should have an interest in AI, Embedded Systems, and IoT.
Participants will have a five-month long virtual engagement. They will also participate in a week-long in-person meeting in Belgium. Selected participants will receive support for return air ticket, accommodation, and visa application documentation.
