Google DeepMind and Makerere University will renew the collaboration to fund one (1) new scholarship in the field of Machine Learning in the academic year 2024/2025. The new scholarship builds on the previous scholarships that were awarded in the academic years 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/2024. The scholarship will support a student who wishes to study Msc. Computer Science programme (Track: AI and Data Science) taught in the Department of Computer Science at Makerere University in the academic year 2024/2025. The scholarship will be open to students from Uganda. The scholarship package will include full financial support for tuition, stipend, equipment, AI conference participation and mentorship. Which programmes are eligible?

MSc in Computer Science (Track: AI and Data Science). Students must first secure admission to the M.Sc. Computer Science programmes at Makerere University before applying for the scholarship.


What does the scholarship cover?

  • Full payment of tuition fees
  • Stipend to cater for living expenses
  • Equipment (laptop)
  • Medical insurance cover
  • AI conference participation and mentorship

How many scholarships are available?

One (1) Google DeepMind scholarship is available for the 2024/2025 academic year. The scholarship will be open to students from Uganda.


Eligibility

The scholarship is open to students who are citizens of Uganda.


Applying for the scholarship

You to first apply for admission to Msc. Computer Science before applying for the scholarship. At the time of scholarship application, you are required to provide proof of application for admission (not proof of admission). However, to be awarded the Google DeepMind scholarship, you must provide proof of admission to the MSc Computer Science programme of Makerere University.
